About Ontario VIN Check
Buying a used car in Ontario means juggling two different worlds of information: the federal safety record of the vehicle, and the provincial paperwork of the sale. Most VIN tools only give you the first. We built this to give you both, on one page, for free.
What we do
We decode any VIN against NHTSA’s public vPIC database and match it to recall and safety records. Then we add the Ontario layer — the UVIP, Safety Standards Certificate, lien searches and HST — so the result reflects the real steps you’ll take to complete a purchase in this province.
How we’re funded
The VIN check is free and always will be. We keep the lights on through affiliate partnerships: if you choose to buy a paid full-history report or a related service through a link we provide, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those links are always clearly labelled. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t require an account to use the free tools.
What we’re not
We’re an independent resource, not a government service. We are not affiliated with ServiceOntario, the Ministry of Transportation, or the Government of Ontario. For official records and to register a vehicle, you’ll still deal with ServiceOntario directly — we just help you walk in prepared.
